Cátia Valente is originally from Porto and has lived in Almada since 2016. She is a family physician, an independent documentary photographer and an event photographer.

She completed the Introductory Course at the Movimento de Expressão Fotográfica (MEF) in 2024 and the Introductory Workshop at NARRATIVA in 2025. Concurrently, she took workshops on editing, portraiture and visual storytelling at NARRATIVA, a composition course at the Instituto Português de Fotografia (IPF) and a documentary photography workshop with José Sarmento Matos.

She participated in the 2025–2026 NARRATIVA Masterclass, where she began developing the project "For Caring"
